Your new stations

Once complete, the modern Moreland and Coburg stations will provide a safer journey whilst maintaining important heritage elements for the community. The new station designs include;

  • Updated modern facades
  • New signage for an improved and more accessible journey
  • Feature lighting for increased security
  • Heritage rails at Coburg Station
  • New public spaces developed in consultation with the local community
  • More green space including a playground and dog park
  • Improved pedestrian and cycling connections and shared user path

Heritage buildings

Maintaining the unique history of Melbourne’s railways is a priority.  The station buildings at Moreland and Coburg are included in the Victorian Heritage Register.  We’re working with Heritage Victoria and other key stakeholders to ensure these assets are preserved for future generations to enjoy.  Both station buildings will be preserved in their current positions, forming part of new station precincts.

More about the station precincts

  • Green, open space is important for local communities and  a landscaping strategy that promotes biodiversity and sustainability has been developed. This will provide more green spaces, shade, habitat for wildlife and see almost three times more trees planted along the corridor than before the project began.
  • Shared paths are being delivered for quality pedestrian and cycling connections and facilities, including separated bicycle and pedestrian paths, more lighting and increased bicycle parking at Coburg and Moreland stations.
